    Verdict

Zain City ran a nice race in the Wood Ditton but, for once, the form of that Newmarket contest is not working out. Redcar scorer Robsdelight might struggle to defy his penalty and Golden Iris was last at Ascot after winning at Lingfield. Maypole went close in a handicap at Leicester on his reappearance, however, while Exec Chef shaped with promise on a couple of starts on Polytrack in the autumn. Serjeant Painter is definitely one for the short-list as he didn’t have much luck on his return to action at Goodwood but he will be qualified for handicaps after this. DIOCLES OF ROME was a real eye-catcher at Newbury in September in a race that’s working out well. He’ll know more today and the extra furlong will suit.
