An open contest can go the way of Earcomesannie with Ebony Jack, Mr Micky and Battlefiled making up the shortlist. The selection hasn't always convinced with his jumping over fences this season but if he completes today he should be involved in the finish. He stays well, handles the ground and is at the right end of the handicap. Ebony Jack is being kept busy as he gets old and must have claims off his mark of 74, although he is arguably at his best when there is cut in the ground. Mr Micky is consistent if unspectacular and could plod into a place, whilst Battlefield has very solid claims if able to reproduce his latest run when a gallant third. At a price, Joris De Vonnas could go well and has place claims, but for the winner we will tentatively return to Earcomesannie.
