In depth

Verdict

Not a strong contest and Cher D'Or gets the vote ahead of Syroco. Alan King's stable continues in consistently good form and despite having to carry top-weight today, his ex-French gelding should be capable of putting this poor bunch to the sword. He handled good ground in France and now dropped back in trip, he looks sure to run a big race. Syroco is fairly consistent but looked well-held when unseating his rider last time out and he looks opposable again. Silvergino should be watched in the market now returning from a monster break. Theseus reverts to hurdles but he hasn't looked in love with the game of late and whilst the ground will suit, he is opposable today. Wil Power is nearly back on a winning mark so warrants respect, but for the winner we will happily return to Chery D'Or.
