In depth

Verdict

This looks much weaker than the first division. Darksideoftarnside, rated 80 and a three times winner on the Flat, has had two runs on the level since a well-beaten fifth at Southwell in the summer and has to go on the shortlist. Dan Gun won off a higher mark around this time last year when trained by Fergal O’Brien. He was entered yesterday at Stratford, however, and has never been easy to catch on a going day. California Soul and Manintheshadows aren’t without a chance but the vote goes to MAC AMARA, who has hinted at ability and has been dropped 4lb since going off too quickly at Fontwell.
