In depth

Verdict

This race should be dominated by the four previous winning hurdlers in the field Connak, Oscar Bay, Overclear, and Sovereign King, with marginal preference for the last mentioned. The selection has the beating of Oscar Bay and Overclear on running at Sandown behind Beshabar last month and on that evidence, on similar ground to today¿s, Alan King's gelding looks the one they all have to beat. Robert and Sally Alner's Connak was good value for his success here last month and has to be respected but that win came over three miles and it remains to be seen whether he will be as effective dropped back in trip today. John Spearing's Loch Vic has shown a reasonable level of form and has to be respected but it is Sovereign King that gets the vote.
