Verdict

Secret Investor is the class horse of the contest, having been last seen lowering the colours of his high-quality stable companion, Clan Des Obeaux in the 2021 Denman Chase at Newbury. He's also a course and distance winner, so there's plenty to be positive about. However, he has to concede 10lb and upwards all round and is having a first start for 650 days. It's a tricky call but he's probably best watched on this comeback run. The 2020 Welsh National winner, Secret Reprieve, has a strong record here and needed his reappearance. He's shortlisted along with Caribean Boy - talented but unpredictable - and Time To Get Up who remains unexposed. However, WAYFINDER landed his last three in style at this venue in a manner suggesting he'll remain competitive upped to this level for the first time.
