In depth

Verdict

Construct and Kaizer are both 2-2 over hurdles but will need to improve again to complete the hat-trick. Soviet Pimpernel is the unknown quantity in this so is worth a market check while Torpillo bolted up in a handicap at Chepstow earlier this month, though was far too keen in the Fred Winter here in March when well behind fifth Fanfan Du Seuil and is only a pound better off. Quel Destin blew an apparently simple opportunity on the Flat 10 days ago but should strip fitter here, though faces no easy task conceding weight all round. NELSON RIVER beat Fanfan Du Seuil here in December and was later fourth in the Triumph Hurdle, ahead of Quel Destin. He had a pipe-opener on the all-weather last month and shouldn’t be far away.
