A small but competitive field goes to post for this handicap chase and a chance is taken on Hurricane Lamp who was fourth behind Quality First last time out he goes well on the ground and gave the impression he would be worth a try over this longer trip as he was staying on well on that occasion. Samuel Wilderspin was a fair seventh in the Kim Muir chase at Cheltenham last time and he will find this slightly easier and he rates the main danger. Handyman could also go well but he will need to brush up his jumping if he is to score. Strong Paladin is also worthy of consideration he is well in on his best form won well last time out and although he goes well at this time of year this is a more competitive affair. Arlequin De Sou could also go well but he likes to make the running and he may not get an easy lead on this occasion. Of the remainder Pessimistic Dick could go well with conditions in his favour but he was very disappointing last time out. Midnight Gunner also has fair form but his best efforts have come over a shorter trips.
