Verdict

Tombstone is potentially well treated and will probably start favourite for this traditionally-competitive Grade 3 handicap. He was fourth in last year’s Supreme Novices’ and beat Jezki on only his second start since in a Grade 3 at Gowran last month. That will have put him spot-on for this and he’ll be hard to beat if getting the run of the race. Gordon Elliott, who trained last year’s winner, also runs Carrig Cathal and Automated and the latter beat Scoir Mear at Navan last time, though was behind the enigmatic Waxies Dargle at Fairyhouse earlier. Ireland holds a very strong hand in this as Tin Soldier, Peregrine Run and Allblak Des Places could also figure with the Mullins stable saddling five runners in total. RIVER FROST was hit with a 10lb rise for winning over this trip at Kempton but the five-year-old is on a steep upward curve and may well prove the pick of a quartet sporting the JP McManus colours. Modus has a touch of class and could prove the pick of the remainder, though has to concede weight all round.
