With five of the field out of the weights proper this may not be as competitive as the numbers suggest and the vote goes to Inch Pride, who is preferred to Almah and Chamoss Royale. The selection is turned out quickly after a facile success in a novices' hurdle at Newton Abbot on Sunday and, while this is tougher, Martin Pipe's mare does look to be potentially well treated for her debut in a handicap. Stablemate La Lambertine just gets into the weights proper on 10st but was well held off today's mark in the Fred Winter last time and is hard to recommend on that evidence. Golden Odyssey has claims on the pick of her form and has a nice racing weight but this has never been a happy hunting ground for the Reveley stable and she may be best watched. Alamh is preferred to Avitta of the two Venetia Williams-trained runners but would not appear to be the best-handicapped horse in the field, while Almnadia would need to put up a career best effort to win off her current mark on her return from a long absence. Chamoss Royale has plenty to do off top weight and a better bet looks to be Inch Pride, who is taken to put a disappointing effort in the Royal & SunAlliance behind her.
