Verdict

The hat-trick seeking Thunder Sheik was withdrawn at Aintree on Saturday due to soft ground but should make the starting line-up here and goes on the short-list. Stan Sheppard is good value for his 7lb claim and Ludlow specialist Beallandendall shouldn't be far away. Rathealy might appreciate the drop in grade and is tried in blinkers but Vosne Romanee hasn't raced since June last year, though his stable is going well at present. Nicky Henderson's pair, Lough Kent and Divine Spear, should go well but Authorized Too probably needs softer going and had little to beat at Plumpton. SIMON SQUIRREL could complete a good day for followers of the Paul Nicholls stable as two of last three runs have been behind champion novice Altior and he was only beaten six lengths here in December having been badly hampered in the early stages.
