Several of these ran in the Cross Country Chase at the festival meeting including Lord Noelie, Village King and French Executive, who finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively but they may have to settle for a minor role behind Parsons Legacy. The Philip Hobbs-trained gelding lost no caste when third behind Juveigneur in the Kim Muir last time and has an obvious chance off just a 1lb higher mark today. Lord Noelie faired best of those that ran in the Cross Country Chase but back over the regulation fences those that ran in that unique contest may struggle and of more interest may be Alan King's Lords Best, who is less exposed than many of his rivals and comes here fresh having missed the festival. Robert Alner's Spring Grove is capable on his day and was not disgraced in the William Hill National Hunt Chase last time, while Jonjo O'Neill's Dark Room may be better than we have seen so far this term. The handicapper has given Martin Pipe's Jurancon II a chance but his recent form leaves something to be desired and a safer option would appear to be Parsons Legacy, who gets the vote.
