Verdict

Another fiercely competitive handicap with a number of in-form and progressive types in opposition. The weights are headed by the admirably tough Lady Cricket who hardly knows how to run a bad race and boasts three valuable wins on this track including a decisive victory over a number of today's rivals in a Listed Handicap in January. Martin Pipe's mare advertised her well being with an excellent third behind the classy Kadarann in the Game Spirit Chase at Newbury last month and is handed the vote to defy top weight. The dangers include Europa, who has won three of his four starts this term and looks capable of further improvement, as well as Fondmort, who failed to stay three miles when fancied for the Racing Post Chase last time. However, Ballinclay King and Hermes III are held by the selection on earlier course form, Go Roger Go has had his Problems and is on a long losing sequence and Master Tern faces a stiff task from 9lb out of the handicap.
