        Verdict

        Al Mikdam showed the benefit of a moderate opening run with a much better effort over just short of this trip at Wolverhampton where he was staying on. Simon Crisford has had a fine season and Say The Word looks sure to add to his tally at some stage after a finishing in front of the former on his debut. He looked in need of experience that day and will take some beating. However, L'UN DEUX TROIS made a bright start at Ascot and wasn't beaten far in what looked a strong Goodwood maiden so gets the nod. Mondain attracted no attention in the market at Kempton but ran well enough and a middle-distance pedigree suggests there'll be more to come over this trip. Jamie Osborne has been among the winners and Waterproof is one to keep an eye on in the market.
