Verdict

The Night King, the only course and distance winner in the line-up, is only 3lb higher than when completing a track double in November. GATES PASS is still a maiden after nine starts but has been out of the first four and is 10lb lower than when beaten a length at Lingfield in December and has dropped to a winnable mark. Channel Packet has won from 7f to 1m2f and is only 1lb higher than when scoring over a mile here in November so has to be on the shortlist. Francophilia is still a maiden after six starts but looked like taking a hand in the finish at Wolverhampton last time but for fading close home. Gas Monkey is very consistent but has been beaten three times off lower marks than this
