In depth

Verdict

Normally run at Longchamp, Roger Varian sent over last year’s winner Zabeel Prince and Roseman wears the same colours. The latter finished a respectable fourth in the Queen Anne at Ascot last time having beaten recent Newbury winner Century Dream at Newmarket at the end of last year and may well figure. Clive Cox’ three-year-old Positive should have come on for last month’s outing in the St James’s Palace Stakes and is preferred to Listed winner Pogo, who beat Stormy Antarctic at Windsor, but PERSIAN KING is difficult to oppose. The latter had the measure of Shaman when winning the French 2000 Guineas last year before proving too good for Motamarris when runner-up in the French Derby here and Andre Fabre’s colt should be back to his very best today after a recent Group 2 victory at Saint-Cloud.
