In depth

Verdict

Seven of the last eight renewals have gone to UK challengers and two of them represented the Hannon yard. The latter is represented by novice winner Ventura Tormenta but he came up short in a Group 2 at Newmarket last time and THE LIR JET looks the one to side with. Archie Watson’s unbeaten colt now looks an astute purchase by Qatar Racing after winning at Yarmouth as he went on to land the Norfolk Stakes at Ascot when giving the impression this extra furlong would suit. Axdavali went close in a Group 3 sprint at Longchamp last time and leads the home challenge given Tiger Tanaka has only won low grade claimers though is assured of prize money.
