Normandy Maid is bred to be a decent sprinter but in the absence of a market guide to assess her chance we'll side with ORCHID STREET. Anne Duffield's filly shaped well on her debut at Thirsk before finishing down the field in Beverley's Hilary Needler. The form of the latter contest hasn't worked out particularly well but Orchid Street seemed to have continued her progression when just denied over course and distance, two places ahead of a subsequent scorer, and that experience makes her the one to beat. That said she's clearly no superstar so money for Normandy Maid should be taken seriously. She's the first foal of a very speedily bred dam, who is from the family of high-class Cape Of Good Hope, so conditions should be ideal ahead of her debut. With the yard firing in juvenile winners this term it'd be foolish to ignore confidence in the market. Lady Kildare may be next best as she's only got half a length to find with Orchid Street on their meeting here last time and she's arguably open to more improvement. However, unlike last time she's drawn outside our pick today and may once again finish behind her. Miserere finished behind Orchid Street in the Hilary Needler and needs to find plenty of improvement on her first start since, Empress Royal attracted support but showed little on her debut and needs to do better whilst Misscomplacent looks the second-string. Perhaps not the strongest of maidens then, but a good opportunity for Orchid Street to score.
