Gower Sophia is still a maiden from twenty starts and although she didn't appreciate the testing conditions at Newcastle last time, she is hard to fancy. Newbury Street looked like he was heading the right way when winning in May but he has failed to build on that performance and connections try dropping him to the minimum trip. Avonvalley is rated 5lb higher on the all-weather and rightly so as George Baker's filly has shown better aptitude on the artificial. However, she comes here after winning last time out and clearly in decent nick is worth consideration. Prince James has been showing signs that he is getting the hang of handicaps and looks realistically weighted. Miss Daawe is a 1lb higher than her last winning mark and is worth a closer look as a fan of this trip, but FASHION ICON receives the nomination just 4lb higher in the ratings after winning here most recently. David O'Meara has been firing out the winners, especially here where he holds a 33% strike-rate. His filly is in good heart, acts on a variety of ground and looks the most credible option to side with.
