A claiming race to get things going and we like the look of Maunby Rocker over Reno, Penalty Clause, Regal Vintage, Prince Ajdal and maybe Karyon. The selection's win in a Uttoxeter maiden hurdle was a fair effort when held up against the light of what the others have achieved and, if none the worse for his fall at Wetherby last time, looks to hold a leading chance. Penalty Clause's two placed efforts from four runs make him a main contender in what is modest race, along with Prince Ajdal, who won at Kelso on his debut but was then found out in a better event next time. This is more his level. Reno was well held when second on his debut run over hurdles and he's a little hard to assess on the basis of that so might be capable of better. Karyon was placed in a 10-furlong seller at Leicester in October, and keep an eye on the market with regard to her chances. Of the others, Gladys Aylward actually won here over seven furlongs on the Flat and, blinkered for the first-time here, could go well on her hurdling debut. Arte Et Labore has bits of modest Flat form but did not show too much on his hurdling bow, while Chemicalreaction showed some promise at Wetherby on his second run but failed to build on that last time. That said, he should be more at home at this level. Regal Vintage, who showed a modicum of promise on the Flat, could improve for reasonable hurdling run at Newcastle last time (with Handshake and Arte Et Labore behind him that day) in what was, admittedly, a modest event. Luke After Me was more highly-tried at Wetherby on his debut but still has something to prove. Seraph was placed over a mile at Musselburgh in May but had little to show in the way of Flat form since. This brings us back to the selection, Maunby Rocker.
