In depth

Verdict

A large field for this apprentice handicap, but many can be discounted and we have cut it down to Jackie Kiely, Chevin and Let It Be, with the former just edging the decision. This son of Vettori is in top form at present following victories at Brighton and Newmarket and has the assistance of John Brennan, an Irish lad with a good reputation. Chevin trained by Richard Fahey, made a very pleasing seasonal debut at Musselburgh finishing just over four lengths behind Archirondel, improvement is almost guaranteed and this one looks the main threat to the selection. Let It Be only won a seller last time but is weighted accordingly and looks set to figure in the finish. Not the easiest of finales, but Jackie Kiely has strong claims and gets the vote.
