Verdict

This track and trip along with very testing ground obviously suit SHOWBOATING, who won this last year before following up a few days later. He'll be a big price here after very moderate efforts but a chance is taken that he can return to that sort of form. Evanescent beat him at Pontefract last September but was receiving weight and has now to concede due to his excellent subsequent form. Comino completed a double at Thirsk but found a better class race at Ascot beyond him on his hat-trick attempt. Strong Man was in fine form on the all-weather at the beginning of the year and reappeared after a break to score at Musselburgh in August. He's still quite well treated and looks a threat to all. Ortac Rock has returned to action after a long break and his last run at Epsom points to a big effort.
