Verdict

DECOR IRLANDAIS (NAP) won four times between the flags in Ireland before easily completing a Cartmel double over timber. He hasn't run badly in handicaps the last twice and this is more his grade. Mercian Prince has been confined to chasing since arriving from France in 2016. He hasn't run well in two recent starts and could find this on the short side on his return to the smaller obstacles. Champagne Noir made a promising start over hurdles behind the odds-on Overtop at Carlisle but then pulled too hard at Aintree and finished last. Frimeur De Lancray was going on at the finish over 2m at Uttoxeter and, with that run certain to have brought him on and the longer trip in his favour, can reach the frame.
