led narrowly, hard driven from 4 out, ridden after 2 out, kept on under pressure, headed narrowly when fell last
with leader, always travelling well, blundered 4th, took narrow advantage, going well when left well clear last, unchallenged and eased flat
tracked leading pair, outpaced 5 out, lost modest 3rd before 3 out, left 3rd again last, kept on, no impression
held up 4th and last, went modest 3rd before 3 out, no chance with front pair when left 2nd at last, kept on, flattered by proximity to easy winner
Sego Success got first run on IF IN DOUBT at Wetherby last month but Philip Hobbs' charge was staying on well in the closing stages and finished clear of the third. That run will have boosted confidence after a fall at Exeter and he'll be a short price to go one better today. Volo Mio unseated his rider in that Wetherby race but Askamore Darsi has been placed in point-to-points so is likely to make a better chaser than hurdler and he's preferred to Lord Brendy, who has plenty of experience but is still making errors.
Askamore Darsi (IRE) 8-1 (11-6) With leader, not fluent 3rd, pushed along before 6th, led 3 out, edged right before 2 out, headed approaching last, stayed on, held close home, 2nd of 10, 1l behind Dundee (11-7) at Uttoxeter 3m hcp hdl 0-120 (4) gd in May.
If In Doubt (IRE) 5-4fav (11-2) Held up in rear, headway before 3 out, chased winner before last, ridden run-in, kept on and held towards finish, 2nd of 6, 1 1/4l behind Sego Success (11-2) at Wetherby 3m 1f beg chs (4) sft in Nov.
Lord Brendy 25-1 (11-0) Towards rear, not fluent 3rd or 5th, well beaten 4 out, went modest 4th 3 out, left 2nd next, flattered by proximity to winner, 2nd of 9, 2l behind Grate Fella (11-0) at Catterick 2m 3f beg chs (4) gd.
Volo Mio 33-1 (11-2) Tracked leaders, in 3rd from 5 out, weakened before 3 out, in 4th when unseated rider last, in a race won by Sego Success (11-2) at Wetherby 3m 1f beg chs (4) sft in Nov, 6 ran.
