Verdict

Cosmic Statesman and Kisumu filled the places behind Akavit at Wetherby in a race in which the more-experienced Poet Mark finished a well-beaten sixth. Both are open to improvement but they could find newcomer BERLAND too hot to handle if John Ferguson's Cape Cross gelding, a winner twice on the Flat, translates his form to the winter game and softer ground. Miss Ranger also won twice on the level so can't be ignored and Mr Morocco may do better now going jumping given his staying pedigree.
