This is a modest event to start proceedings and the best option is I Got Rhythm, Lewis Island and Talarive appear to be the main rivals. Keith Reveley's seven-year-old takes a drop back into selling company following an excellent effort in a Doncaster claimer last time. He finished just three lengths behind Totally Scottish in that competitive event and is well suited by the conditions of today's race. Lewis Island put in one or two good performances on the all-weather before christmas, he is not the most reliable of characters but if he can repeat the form of his victory at Hereford last March he would be a big threat to the selection. Talarive is now back in the right sort of company after taking on some decent performers recently, he hails from a very shrewd yard and should be noted in the betting. Protocol and altitude Dancer are also worth a mention, but I Got Rhythm is the pick of the weights and gets our vote.
