Eighteen runners contest this competitive handicap and Mission Affirmed looks the one to be on, with Northern Games and Headland put forward as the main rivals. This son of Stravinsky landed a modest Southwell contest back in April and bounced back to form at the same track last time when chasing home Don't Call Me Derek, if he can reproduce that effort on the turf he should go close from his current mark. Northern Games was successful over the six furlong trip here in July and lost no caste in defeat when a close second behind Magic Amour at Warwick recently. He has gone well over this trip in the past, so could be the main threat to the selection. Headland hails from a stable in good form and can go close to following up his recent Southwell victory. However Tom Tate is going great guns on the flat this season, and Mission Affirmed looks set to add to his tally.
