A trappy handicap, with the stalls placed on the far side, so low numbers could hold the call. Dandy Nicholls sets a poser by running both Anthony Mon Amour and American Cousin. The latter certainly looked to be on the way back when close up in a better race than this last time behind Full Spate, while his stablemate, a course and distance winner, is well suited to this sharp track. Sharp Hat has been running well without getting his head in front, but he has been done no favours by the draw, neither has the speedy Tuscan Dream. Without a win for two years, Brecongill Lad has certainly slipped down the handicap. At his best on fast ground, he will be suited by the likely strong pace and is taken to get his head in front where it matters.
