In depth

Verdict

Intricate Dance was a major disappointment on debut and although there should be plenty of improvement to come, Welsh Auction gets the nomination to build on his decent second last month. Geoff Huffer's grey son of House Auction will appreciate today's step up to seven furlongs after getting slightly outpaced last time out. The booking of Neil Callan suggests that connections mean business today and against distinctly moderate opposition, he looks the likeliest winner. Barry Hills has started the season well and should come on for her debut in a hot Newbury maiden however she was well beaten that day and will need to have improved since. Lady Valentino should come on for her debut and as she was doing her best work towards the finish, today's extra furlong should be right up her street. My French Connection and Falcon's Fire have both had enough chances and neither looks anything special, so for the winner we will return to Welsh Auction.
