In depth

Verdict

A rank contest can go the way of King Marju, with Just James the likeliest danger. This race won't take much winning and Karl Burke's King Marju can appreciate the drop in class and should win today. His recent form doesn't set the pulse racing however he has finished a close second off a mark of 94 before so a repeat of any of his better runs gives him outstanding claims. The ground is fine and whilst his win ratio is distinctly moderate, he gets the vote. Just James didn't show a lot when well-beaten over course and distance a month ago but Dandy Nicholls' eight-year-old has claims if reproducing his run when a winner at Southwell three starts back. Chairman Bobby returns from a break and has place claims, as does Smart Angus who has only had two runs so far and takes this drop in class early in his career. A weak contest, and King Marju gets the vote.
