Blue Shoes has been knocking on the door while Star City has a chance at the weights and Chester Aristocrat appreciated the drop in distance at Haydock earlier this month and held off Duke Of Aricebeau in a driving finish. He's 4lb higher here, however, while Phoenix Clubs was put up a pound after finishing second over 5f at Beverley, though won't mind this soft ground. The going will be no problem either for COMMANCHE, who is dropped in class having finished fourth to Athenian at Ripon last month. They tend to come down the centre of the track here on easy ground so his high draw probably won't be too much of a disadvantage and Bryan Smart's gelding gets the vote.
