Verdict

A big field containing plenty of dead wood and it is Claret And Amber who gets the vote ahead of Royal Applord and Nok Twice. The selection is not one for the mortgage as he proved last time when refusing to race at Ripon. He had previously been successful in this grade over this course and distance and he might just be a class above as ratings suggest if he consents to run. Royal Applord is not far behind on ratings and isn't without a chance; he won well recently at Beverley over seven and he should have no problem returning to this almost-mile trip. Pianoforte won a seller three stats back and he is normally fairly consistent, however his recent run at Pontefract was disappointing and he has a little to prove now. Rowan Lodge has plenty of experience, whilst horses such as Nok Twice and Bold Indian are capable on their day but are not well-treated at these weights. Blue Empire is another for consideration in an open race; however it is Claret And Amber who receives the nomination.
