Neutrino is open to more improvement and can score again at the expense of Avalon, Red Scally, Wot Way Chief and Nicozetto. Neutrino looked one to follow during the winter when making all the running to open his account at Hexham the time before last. He has since had a spin on the Flat at York but was outpaced, and the return to timber over this longer journey should bring out the best in Pat Haslam's gelding. It could be argued that he is a bit high in the handicap here, but there is a lot of deadwood as well, so he should run a big race. The ex-Aidan O'Brien inmate Avalon has quite simply been very disappointing since going hurdling, and until he proves that he has an aptitude for the game, he is well worth taking on. If he has turned over a new leaf in the summer, then he may surprise us, but we would rather oppose him at present. Red Scally battled home at Bangor last time to open his account over hurdles, but the testing ground is a big worry, given that his best form has been on faster going. Wot Way Chief ran out of steam when fourth at Perth and should appreciate today's trip so is one to consider for a place, while Nicozetto was successful over the course-and-distance last time but has a bit more to do. For the winner we return to Neutrino.
