Verdict

MERCERS ROW went close to defying a 4lb rise for an earlier win at Thirsk when beaten less than a length over track and trip three weeks ago. He gets another chance in this ahead of Rasselas, who still has claims despite a 6lb rise for scoring at Newcastle last time. Beverley winner Echo Of Lightning failed to cope with a rise in the weights last time but Ishikawa continues to tumble down the handicap and could bounce back at any time. The remainder are harder to fancy though Outlaw Torn should appreciate the return to 7f.
