Detective is quite at home over distances from a mile up to staying trips and the five-time course winner enjoys a fine record here. He's come back to good form the last twice and is essential shortlist material. Strongbowe is likely to be popular in the market after only succumbing by a head over course and distance last month. He is respected but has been put up 3lb for that defeat and has only notched a single success since Thirsk in June 2021. Dornoch Castle and Ludo's Landing are preferred in that order for Charlie Johnston, whilst easy Beverley winner, Cori Glory, is an interesting handicap debutant and pretty unexposed. AL MOTASIM isn't the easiest to catch right but is useful on his day, could well improve for the extra furlong and Planas takes off a very handy 5lb.
