Lady Chaparral has obvious claims on her second here to Sennockian Star a month ago but the latter is a typically rapid Mark Johnston improver and the form needs to be assessed with that in mind. She's respected conceding weight all round whilst Chookie Royale is too in-and-out this term to inspire confidence. Stable companion Chookie Avon boasts claims off this handicap mark whilst Lisiere is definitely one to take into account. Only modest last time, the Burke charge has good, solid claims on her third to Smarty Socks at York in a better race than this and should be on all shortlists. However, trip and ground are perfect for HOT ROD MAMMA and she is given the vote despite not having scored since September 2011. A course and distance winner, she has gone well on many a recent start and is now on a 7lb lower mark than when last successful.
