Verdict

Figliolo is open to improvement having been third on his debut, but that was in an average maiden at Haydock and much more will be needed in this. Melrose Place will be more at home in this company, having faced some stiff tasks and can be expected to improve over this trip, while Literacy, who hasn't been getting home over further, may be suited by this drop in trip. However, this looks likely to be fought out by Magic Piper and Goodwood Prince. The former would have been the choice had he not disappointed over course and distance last time, but he may have found that effort coming too soon after a solid run behind the useful Fancy Lady in a nursery at Goodwood. This can go to John Dunlop's Goodwood Prince, who has been knocking on the door in similar events.
