In depth

Verdict

HONOURED looks the obvious route to take with Sir Mark Prescott's gelding taken to see off Ermyntrude and Plan A. This looks a weak event and the selection is able to race off the same mark of 52 as when going close at Ayr last time out. The ground is a question mark, especially as his dam seemed better on slightly quicker going over in France, but if he handles it he must go close. Ermyntrude got the message at the track last time and her penalty doesn't mean she's out of equations, whilst Plan A needs to improve for the longer trip in order to defy his mark of 55. The extra yardage today should help the stoutly-bred Many A Slip, although the selection might have more to fear from River Tease who improved for the step into handicaps here last time out or handicap debutante Hotfoot for whom Kieren Fallon looks an interesting jockey booking.
