A real minefield for punting purposes and only a tentative nomination goes to Kernel Dowery. With Miss Glory Be, Stolen Song and Ben Hur fancied to be in the thick of the action as events unfold. Ben Hur is a previous course and distance winner that can usually be relied upon to run his race. He likes to hear his hooves rattle so any rain would dampen his chances. Stolen Song hails from a yard that are capable of keeping one sweet for races like this. Mick Ryan has a habit of getting the best out of these moderate types, so it will come as no surprise to see Stolen Song go close after his gutsy win at Yarmouth earlier in the month. However, a 7lb higher mark does him no favours and he needs everything to fall into place for him today. Miss Glory Be is 5lb worse off with Icannshift from the last time they met over course and distance. There is likely to be very little between them again here but Ernst Oetel's charge responds well for Brian Reilly and she may be able to find the extra effort if required. However, a chance is taken with Kernel Dowery, who has the assistance of Richard Quinn today. The Scotsman rides Brighton better than many of his contemporaries and is likely to find a willing partner in the shape of this previous course and distance winner. The five-year-old is also on a very fair mark at present and he can end his frustrating run of near misses with a clear run today.
