Taranaki was backed as though defeat was out of the question at Wolverhampton last week and he could gain his compensation today with Franksalot and Green Pirate the main dangers. The selection was the subject of a heavy gamble and he was given a lot to do as he finished a closing second behind African Gift at Wolverhampton. He is clearly in good heart at present and he may be capable of ending his losing sequence which stretches back over two years. Franksalot is a course and distance winner and he lost no caste in defeat here on Monday when he finished second behind Premier Fantasy. He should not be far away at the finish again today. Green Pirate is another that ran well last time at Redcar when finishing second behind Chateau. He has run well on each of his starts this season and looks to have really solid place claims. Border Artist is dropping in the weights and could go well at a price, but for the winner we will return to Taranaki.
