    Verdict

    Melesina had been tried in pattern company before starting odds-on for a maiden race at Carlisle last time. But she came up short on that occasion and has a couple of lengths to find with the runner-up LAUREATE. The latter showed a big improvement that day and any further progress would make Mark Johnston’s filly the one to beat. Smiley Riley and Miss Bates have only modest form and will do well to trouble the principal pair.
