        Verdict

        RIO CARIBE ran a blinder at Doncaster when finishing second last Saturday and he can go one better today at the main expense of Orpen Arms and Pinnacle Lad. The selection only found On The Bounty too good last weekend at Doncaster but it was a much improved effort and if he can build on that then he should take plenty of beating. His low draw is not ideal but he does have conditions to suit and the yard are in fair form. Orpen Arms ran well on her debut when she chased home Whozthecat. Declan Carroll thinks his colt Whozthecat is quite useful so the form looks solid enough and she should give our selection a race. Pinnacle Lad was a beaten favourite last time at Ripon so he has a few questions to answer, but this is only his third run and he does appear to be going the right way so it is far too early to be writing him off just yet. Midnight Martini is a well-bred Night Shift filly and she has a good draw so she is one to note in the market on her racecourse bow, while any money for the Mick Easterby-trained Star Ablaze could be interesting. There are plenty in with chances and the vote goes to Rio Caribe.
