Torrens represents a yard that have made a bright start to the campaign and he is selected ahead of Augustine and Light Sentence, while Apache Point makes some appeal for each-way punters to latch on to if supported in the betting ring Apache Point does tend to need a couple of runs to put him in the picture though and he can be expected to strip fitter after this. Light Sentence is a well-bred type that got off the mark in gritty fashion in a Redcar seller last September. Obviously he will never fulfil the potential of his breeding but can pay his way at this sort of level in due course. Augustine is consistent, yet also hard to win with. Still he has managed five career successes, so has a habit of popping up when least expected. He has to rate as a threat today. However, preference is given to Torrens, who still has enough in the locker to be expected to cope with top weight in this company.
