The card's feature race was won last year by the David Barron-trained Magical Macey from a high draw. BOSUN BREESE represents the yard this year and looks to have plenty going for him. A victory at Ripon on his seasonal debut last season was the first of four wins over 5f and he'll have no problem with the likely fast ground. However, the going may prove a hindrance to Jamaican Bolt, but aside from that, he has leading claims on his best form and remains relatively unexposed. Swiss Cross is preferred to Ancient Cross exiting from a low draw while Baby Strange never looked like winning when third in last year's renewal but can race off a lower mark this time around. Last Sovereign usually runs his race at this track, though he looks high enough in the weights at present, and Chooseday makes more appeal than stablemate Jedward. Six-time course and distance winner Caranbola is never easily dismissed at this venue either.
