Verdict

After an encouraging debut at Doncaster, POPLAR CLOSE came up against a more streetwise opponent in Star Focus at the last meeting here and was caught flat-footed when the latter quickened off the bend. She'll know more this time and should go one better. That winner is trained by Mark Johnston, who has Mistymoistymorning engaged here and she's been staying on over the minimum trip though this is a big step-up. James Bethell has a good record on the track so the Cape Cross filly Hazely, a half-sister to four winners, is one to keep an eye on, as is Bill Turner's No Pleasing You, a half-sister to six winners.
