Verdict

This was won last year by Tangerine Trees, who went on to Prix De L'Abbaye glory. Dinkum Diamond was a close third a year ago and gained his first subsequent success at Nottingham last time in a race that should have a bearing here. Runner-up that day was MASAMAH, the 2011 King George winner, who was conceding 8lb and beaten narrowly. He has been hampered by his Group 2 penalty for most of the season but conditions are in his favour here and he can gain his first victory since that Goodwood success. Move In Time wasn't far behind at Nottingham and as that was his first start in ten weeks he looks certain to give a good account. Pepper Lane is a very useful handicapper as we saw in the Great St Wilfrid but was previously well beaten in Listed company while the speedy Confessional has a high draw to overcome and Tim Easterby may have a better chance with Ponty Acclaim. Pabusar has only won once in 15 starts but is a regular at this level while Borderlescott is drawn best of all and though on a long losing run he's perfectly capable of playing a part in what should be a cracking sprint.
