        Verdict

        There will be no Triple Crown winner this year after Exaggerator won the Preakness at Pimlico with Kentucky Derby hero Nyquist back in third. The latter doesn’t make today’s line-up so the former will be considered the one to beat by many over this longer trip attempting to confirm running with runner-up Cherry Wine and fourth-placed STRADIVARI. However, both of that pair are fresher horses having had a lay-off before the Preakness and Todd Pletcher’s colt is fancied to reverse running with Exaggerator over this longer trip, especially as his trainer expects him to settle better this time. Japanese colt Lani did much better in the Preakness than he did in Kentucky and he may also appreciate the extra distance here.
