dwelt, behind, driven 3f out, shaken up and late headway when hampered and not clear run inside final furlong, hung right and not recover
tracked leaders, ridden over 2f out to chase winner, weakened close home
outpaced in mid-division, late headway, not trouble leaders
made all, ridden 3f out, ran on well
held up keen in touch, vigorously ridden and edged left inside final furlong, fading
held up tracking leader, ridden approaching 3f out, soon lost place
dwelt, soon tracking leaders, ridden to chase leaders 3f out, weakened final furlong
In a tricky fillies' handicap, we give the vote to Ballinger Express over possibly Aesculus and Glencoe Solas. Looking at the field. Yomalo won twice last season but at least is back to a winning mark if factoring in his rider's three-pound allowance. Glencoe Solas is now rated just a pound-higher than for her Windsor win last June and has first-time blinkers fitted today. Ballinger Express can be fancied dropped to this trip for the first time as her first run on Turf last time was a fair one. Aesculus is also dropped in trip after a reasonable effort at Yarmouth last time, and it will be interesting to see how that tactic works. Annijaz has a bit to find overall, while Boavista has yet to win a race but is a pound better off for the length she was beaten by Nanna in a fairly modest course and distance auction race last time. Sea Jade has yet to win a race, but Lily Of The Guild has chances if returning to the level of the form of her sole career win to date, which came in 2002 and from a nine-pound higher mark. However, that all seems a long time and today points us in the direction of Ballinger Express.
