      Verdict

      Seeking Away will be a warm order in a disappointing turnout for this maiden and gets our vote, with Opera Star probably the one to chase him home. The John Gosden-trained selection is qualified for this maiden because his success last time out came in the Newmarket Challenge Cup, a race restricted to horses owned by members of the Jockey Club. We did not really learn too much about him from that facile success, but the form of his second to Deraasaat on his racecourse debut is more than good enough to play a leading part in this race. Good subsequent winner Portrait Of A Lady was fifth in that event. With Lord Nellsson and Chelsea's Diamond coming here on the back of hurdling runs, the only other ones to consider here are Leg Spinner, Breaking The Rule and Opera Star. Leg Spin has displayed ability in both of his runs to date and, while his style of running last time suggested that a step up in trip would suit, things are not so clear cut on breeding., while Breaking The Rule, who is nicely bred, did not really reveal too much about himself on Lingfield's all-weather on his only racecourse run to date. Therefore, the Barry Hills-trained Opera Star might give the selection the most to do. He too is very well-bred and will appreciate every inch of today's trip. He was a little disappointing on his Turf debut here over 10 furlongs last time out, but that race has already produced some fair winners. He had, however, earlier shown promise on Lingfield's Polytrack. As we say, he should go well but, for the winner, we return to Seeking The Way.
