Capistrano was good value for his win over this trip at Ripon on good ground last time and should have no problems with either the softer ground or the 7lb rise in the weights so is taken to follow up at the main expense of Historic Appeal and Risk Runner. The last mentioned was well held on his reappearance but is entitled to come on for the run and Alan King's gelding should relish the underfoot conditions. Luca Cumani's Bauer made a winning start to his handicap career at Ayr last time and could be open to further improvement after just four starts but has yet to prove himself on ground this soft. Vehari should relish the ground but is hard to back with confidence on all known form, while Ralph Beckett's lightly raced Looker could be of interest on his reappearance but lack of a recent run and the general form of the stable is of concern. Historic Appeal would have claims on the pick of his form but disappointed last time out so may be best watched and a safer bet looks to be the in-form Capistrano.
